Non-Traditional Tradition

Multi-purpose is a phrase on heavy rotation in my house year-round, fishing in the bathtub anyone???  And the holidays are certainly no exception to this rule!  Who says LED lights and ornaments are just for hanging?  And what tradition states that wrapped presents hanging around don’t bring out the giver in all of us?

With that I bring you a few of my favorite alternative uses for some of your most traditional holiday items.

First up, LED lights!  Of course, there is the ol’ decorate the tree and house by hanging lights for the holidays, but this season I am loving place the lit up strings on display – either in a Lucite box, like I did above, or any glass of plastic vase.

My next tip is pretty similar to my first one, take your tree ornaments – I got all of this stuff at my local Sam’s Club- and put them on display – again using clear containers.  It’s a great way to add touches of holiday cheer all around your home.  You can check out a little interview I gave about re-purposing your holiday items here.

Lastly, I just love having these wrapped frames up around my house for the holidays – to me they’re just so festive and easy to make.  All you do is buy some inexpensive frames and wrap them up in your favorite ribbon and finish them off with a broach or piece of jewelry you’ve got laying around.

Disclosure: I am a paid endorser for Sam’s Club.
